Tropical Southern Charm

I loved photographing this North Florida wedding where rustic Southern charm met tropical flair. The moss-covered oaks and weathered barn gave it that unmistakable “South” feeling, while the rock waterfall and palms added a lush, tropical touch.

Tallahassee’s unique landscape — Florida, but not coastal — made it the perfect backdrop for a wedding that felt both timeless and sun-kissed. If you’re going for the same vibe, I highly recommend Lewiswood Farm!

The bride and groom each had their own suites on the grounds. The bride’s suite was light, bright, and feminine, filled with soft natural light that made it ideal for hair and makeup.

The groom’s suite was rustic and masculine, with warm wood tones. Both spaces offered a private, intimate atmosphere.

(PS - if you’re both getting ready on the grounds it streamlines all bouncing around for photos and maximizes your coverage time!)

Annika + Jackson chose a beautiful color palette! Their choice of blues and the greenery of the grounds were stunning against the warm oranges and rich wood tones of the venue.

And if you’re a color-theory nerd like me, you’ll know orange and blue are complimentary colors! (Complementary colors balance each other because they’re opposites on the color wheel — one warm, one cool. Together, they create natural harmony and make each tone look richer and more vibrant, which is why they photograph so beautifully.) There was a lovely, balanced mix of cool and warm tones!

This couple knew how to have fun! By the end of the night, there wasn’t a single person in the venue who wasn’t on the dance floor. It was a BLAST! I love photographing all of the movement during the reception. It adds a whole new vibe to the full wedding album!

It’s important to me that my wedding albums tell a story with a smooth, natural flow. We start with the getting-ready moments, move through the ceremony and reception, and end with the send-off. When couples flip through their album, I want them to relive their day all over again!

I love photographing weddings because I get to capture real moments of love, laughter, and joy — memories couples will cherish forever, all unfolding in front of my lens. I smile at the thought of Annika + Jackson’s grandchildren looking through these photos one day!
